Evidence for a Scalar Glueball
We show that the newly discovered scalar meson f0(1500) at LEAR has properties compatible with the lightest scalar glueball predicted by lattice QCD and incompatible with a QQ state. We suggest that decays of glueballs are into pairs of glueballs (including η, η or (ππ)S) or by mixing with nearby QQ̄ states. The partial widths of f0(1500) are in accord with this hypothesis, tests of which includ...
متن کاملNumerical evidence for ‘multi-scalar stars’
In 1991, Seidel and Suen [1] considered the model of a real massive scalar field, minimally coupled to the general relativistic gravitational field, with the additional simplifying assumption of spherical symmetry. These authors were interested in the existence of “nontopological solitons” in the model: that is, whether the equations of motion admitted stable, localized, non-singular distributi...
متن کاملExperimental Evidence for Embedded Scalar Implicatures
Scalar implicatures are traditionally viewed as pragmatic inferences which result from a reasoning about speakers’ communicative intentions (Grice 1989). This view has been challenged in recent years by theories which propose that scalar implicatures are a grammatical phenomenon. Such theories claim that scalar implicatures can be computed in embedded positions and enter into the recursive comp...
متن کاملA wide scalar neutrino resonance and bb̄ production at LEP
In supersymmetric models with R-parity violation, scalar neutrinos ν̃ may be produced as s-channel resonances in e+e− colliders. We note that within current constraints, the scalar neutrino may have a width of several GeV into bb̄ and be produced with large cross section, leading to a spectacular signal that may be found with a low luminosity beam energy scan at LEP II. In addition, if mν̃ ≈ mZ , ...
متن کاملA General Scalar-Valued Gap Function for Nonsmooth Multiobjective Semi-Infinite Programming
For a nonsmooth multiobjective mathematical programming problem governed by infinitely many constraints, we define a new gap function that generalizes the definitions of this concept in other articles. Then, we characterize the efficient, weakly efficient, and properly efficient solutions of the problem utilizing this new gap function. Our results are based on $(Phi,rho)-$invexity,...
